NComputing's
ultra low-cost virtual desktop solution has been selected
as the preferred technology by the Government of Punjab for
it’s IT Labs project.Great emphasis have been
put into the curriculums which are increasingly dependent
on technology and computer access. Obligated and committed
to provide adequate computer access for those who otherwise
couldn’t afford it. Now Millions of students in Punjab’s
4,286 schools will enjoy the benefits of NComputing's 65,000+
virtual desktops. The NComputing solution selected by the
Government of Punjab for it’s IT lab project is based
on a simple fact: today's PCs are so powerful that the vast
majority of applications only use a small fraction of the
computer's capacity. NComputing taps this unused capacity
so that it can be simultaneously shared by multiple students.
Each student’s monitor, keyboard, and mouse connect
to the shared PC through a small and very durable NComputing
access device. Kids call them NComputers. The devices itself
have no CPU, memory, or moving parts like a PC therefore they
are rugged, durable, and easy to deploy and maintain. NComputing
virtual desktops cost 50 to 70% less than dedicated computers,
and NComputing devices don’t need to be replaced every
few years. So when you upgrade your shared PCs, you save.
You also save once again by drastically reducing the number
of PCs you have to maintain, you reduce your annual support
costs and at just one to five watts of electrical power consumption
per device, NComputing solutions pay for themselves quickly
in lower electricity bills. This time the Punjab Government
has truly excelled by taking concrete steps to provide Computer
Access for Every Student .
